Here you'll find a couple of plugins for GEdit, the text editor for the GNOME desktop. Some of them are written in Python thus make sure GEdit was compiled with support for it.

Make sure you got a python enabled GEdit.

Open URI Context Menu Plugin:

A: Simply download the plugin archive and extract the contents, not the containing folder, to "~/.gnome2/gedit/plugins/". Then restart gedit and enable the plugin in the preferences.
